In this study, the effects of the wheatgrass diet in ameliorating oxidative stress (OS) induced during diabetes were investigated. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents (TPC and TFC) and in vitro antioxidant activity of wheatgrass extract were estimated at different days (5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15) after germination. Correlating the TPC and TFC with in vitro antioxidant activity, 9th DAG wheatgrass was found to possess maximum antioxidant potential. UHPLC-MS/MS analysis also revealed the presence of nine flavonoids. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of specific genetic mutations on midterm outcomes in adults undergoing SM for HOCM. From 2003 to 2020, a total of 59 patients (male = 66%, mean age = 52 ± 13) underwent SM after a preoperative genetic test. Patients were divided into two groups according to their test result (positive or negative). Preoperative echocardiograms were examined to identify phenotypical characteristics of each mutation. A total of thirty-one patients (53%) had a positive genetic test. MYBPC3 was the most common mutation (15/31 patients). Four different phenotypes were identified on preoperative echocardiograms. Overall, Type 1 phenotype was the most common (37% of the cohort). Type 3 was found exclusively in patients with a positive genetic test. Following SM, none of the patients required a redo myectomy or septal ablation. At 10 years, the survival was 97 ± 3% and 100% in patients with a positive and negative genetic test (p = .33), respectively. Left ventricular aneurysms (LVA) are serious complications of myocardial infarction, being divided into true and false type. The false one-pseudoaneurysm (PA), is a life-threatening condition that requires urgent treatment due to the high risk of rupture. An 84-year-old female presented with progressive heart failure symptoms. Investigation showed a small true LVA and a large PA. Open surgical repair was ruled out as Euroscore and Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) score were 42.80% and 39.97%, respectively. After discussion at our Heart Team meeting, percutaneous approach was found to be the best option. Guided by transesophageal echocardiography, we used an interventricular septal defect occluder to close the gap between the LV and the PA. Control ventriculography showed full closure of the gap, with no residual flow to the PA cavity. The patient was discharged from the hospital on the fifth postoperative day and has remained asymptomatic since then. Percutaneous approach proved to be a safe and effective modality to treat LV PA.
