To evaluate the effectiveness of Human Patient Simulation method, as an additional method to theoretical lectures, on improving critical care knowledge of third course nursing students compared to only theoretical lectures. It was hypothesised that, the greater cognitive abilities used and trained around a specific subject, more strengthening of the subject contents is done by the students. A non-experimental pretest-post test study was carried out with a questionnaire created ad hoc specifically for this study. Pretest questionnaire was administered after students received five weeks of theoretical lectures on critical care subjects. Post test was administered after students performed the theoretical classes and the simulation based learning activity on critical care subjects. 60 nursing students of the Campus Docent Sant Joan de Déu, attending to critical care subjects, were enrolled in the study. The statistical analyses performed showed a significance of the intervention in the post-test p value 0.0paired learning. Post Mortem Computed Tomography (PMCT) is being increasingly implemented in forensic field and could be an adjuvant to classic autopsies. In this study we evaluated the feasibility of complementation of conventional autopsy in trauma victims with PMCT. A total of 21 subjects, who had sustained various types of blunt high-energy trauma, were selected from the casuistry of the Section of Legal Medicine at University of Pisa before autopsy, a PMCT examination (Toshiba Aquilion 16 CT scanner) was performed, and after the acquisition of the raw images, MPR and VR reconstructions were performed with dedicated software. PMCT is more sensitive than conventional autopsy in detecting skeletal injuries, whilst autopsy constitutes the method of choice for the detection of thoracic and abdominal visceral injuries. PMCT should be considered a useful tool in addition to conventional autopsy in evaluating trauma victims it detects further bone fractures in body parts difficult to investigate during autopsy (i.e. posterior regions), facilitating the pathologist in the reconstruction of events and in determining the cause of death.PMCT should be considered a useful tool in addition to conventional autopsy in evaluating trauma victims it detects further bone fractures in body parts difficult to investigate during autopsy (i.e. posterior regions), facilitating the pathologist in the reconstruction of events and in determining the cause of death. Measles still has a high impact on the health of the population in Italy and therefore requires a strong commitment to prevention at national level. In addition to Italy, measles outbreaks have also been reported in other EU countries, with a high number of cases and a rapid spread of the disease even in the nosocomial context between patients and health personnel. The aim of this study is to evaluate the prevalence of measles in a group of health workers working at a university hospital in southern Italy. A seroepidemiological study was conducted on 458 health workers. Measles antibody IgG and IgM levels were evaluated by immunoenzymatic testing. The highest percentage of susceptible subjects was ≤30 years old, with a statistically significant difference compared to the age group ≥51 years. With regard to gender, susceptibility to measles in males was significantly higher than in females (p<0.05). Additional statistically significant differences were found in the different age groups in both genders. Although the results show that most health workers are immune to measles, a 20% susceptibility certainly represents a risk for the spread of the disease among operators and patients. Vaccination and control of suspected cases, especially in community settings such as the hospital environment, are the main measures to prevent the transmission and spread of the disease.Although the results show that most health workers are immune to measles, a 20% susceptibility certainly represents a risk for the spread of the disease among operators and patients. The aim of this study was to analyze the predisposing factors of upper incisal trauma in children candidates for orthodontic treatment. This is a retrospective study involving 102 consecutive patients who requested orthodontic therapy at Pediatric Dentistry Clinic of Bari University's Dental School during the time frame 2012-2019. The distribution of reported dental trauma was analyzed according to gender, type of trauma, etiology, overjet and labial competence. No substantial association between gender and trauma emerged from our study. Patients between the age range of 11-15 years appear to be at increased risk. A statistically significant correlation between increase in overjet and traumatic events was found. A link was discovered between labial incompetence and trauma, since this condition increases the risk of trauma by exposing part of the surface of the upper incisors. A correlation also emerged between Skeletal Class II and the increased risk of traumatic injury. Dental trauma, especially in the anterior sector, is a fairly frequent occurrence in pediatric and adolescent patients and is linked to several factors. In our study subjects with Skeletal Class II division I malocclusion with elevated overjet are more predisposed to dental trauma. The limitations of our study are the low number of subjects in the examined sample, and the heterogeneity of the trauma presentation.Dental trauma, especially in the anterior sector, is a fairly frequent occurrence in pediatric and adolescent patients and is linked to several factors.
