The new neighborhood De Waalhoven will create a sustainable transition between the river and dike landscape and the Waalsprong suburban area. De Waalhoven is designed as a car-free and climate-proof district, based on the principles of the circular economy, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Commissioned by housing corporations Talis and Portaal, a divers mix of homes has been created in a recognizable ensemble. Characteristic are the double-height entrances that connect the new city street and the inside of the building block. The bridge over the Waal is a construction based on a high engineering level and strong formal language. The abutments are the result of a combination of local materials and constructions methods. The city bridge is the result of an optimized engineering process in relation to the surrounding urban landscape and architecture.Taking home the overall winner title is nothing short of a top performance. Each year, the organisation reviews dozens of hospitals from around the world, all vying for the award. That Radboudumc came out on top once again confirms that the most innovative, patient-friendly, and sustainable hospital in the world is right here in Nijmegen. Our design for Duet, Nijmegen’s tallest residential tower, is an optical illusion. Seemingly two slender structures, it enhances rather than dominates the city skyline. Inside, we stack a wide range of homes to form a socially inclusive vertical community, while freeing up space for a beautiful green park that creates room for nature and human encounters.Hans van der Heijden based the design on plain facade principles. We redesigned a former law office into a luxurious cityhouse, combining the characteristic elements of the building’s rich history from 1908 with modern materials and luxury. The modifications on the ground floor are subtle and made with respect for the building’s heritage. By incorporating high-quality materials such as marble and oak, we created a warm and stylish living environment. Dynamic levels of lighting play an essential role in creating a pleasant and healthy indoor climate.
